What We Do

At Pocket Facilitation, we can offer training, consultancy and reflective practice spaces. Let us tell you a bit more about what these look like.

Attend one of our day-long workshops on one of our many areas of expertise.

‘Pick our brains’ about a topic over a consultation.

Have us as an external facilitator for reflective discussions.

Our training days are inclusive, experiential and jam-packed! We regularly run day-long workshops on a range of topics within our area of expertise. These can include facilitation skills, risk management, training fundamentals, client engagement, navigating conflict and working alongside lived experience.  These are run on a general basis for anyone to attend, but we can also offer tailored training packages for your team or organisation, get in touch to chat through any ‘hot spots’ that you might be experiencing within your work, and see if we can help. All of our training is evidence-based, shaped by clinical wisdom from years of experience, and is interactive and inclusive. We include lunch and guest speakers, when possible, and have priced training sessions to be accessible.

We are regularly asked if others in the field can ‘pick our brains’ about a topic. A consultation with us is the perfect way to do so! Some examples of this are:

  • How do I start (or improve) a group program within my service?
  • How do I engage people who might not be keen to participate or attend?
  • How do I best work with those experiencing mental health challenges and /or use alcohol and other drugs?
  • How do I manage risk when working with people who might be unwell?
  • How to I integrate peer work roles / lived experience into my work and team?
  • How can I include sensory modulation in the work that I do?
  • How do I best support those who have experienced trauma?
  • How can I support my team best through a rough patch / a time of change / an incident?
  • How can I make meetings / professional group spaces feel more alive and engaging?
  • Specialist supervision requests
  • … the list goes on!

This is your chance to ask any and all questions! We can share in-depth information about our ways of working, and how to apply these to your field. Consultation can be a useful way to offer a set of fresh eyes to support you to think through your program or project, offering real-life examples of what works (and what doesn’t!), and sharing ideas and suggestions. We’ve even attended actual groups or meetings, and provided live feedback and teaching – we can be creative to fit with whatever you need.

Our consultation services can take place over a single meeting/discussion, or usually, a series of consults that allow us to support you and your team throughout. This will depend on your needs, and we will provide you with a consultation plan before we begin our work together.

Having an external facilitator for reflective discussions is an important way for individuals or teams to experience total permission to process the work that they are doing in a safe and supported space, without having to worry about the nuts and bolts of facilitation – leave that to us!

We can guide you through a reflective process (which can include talking, activities, movement and more), helping individuals to better understand the work that they are doing, increasing confidence and wellbeing. Our reflective spaces don’t attempt to provide answers or guidance, but are more aimed at serving the needs of the team or group in whatever way they feel is needed.

Reflective sessions can take place as a one-off, but more commonly are ongoing, allowing us to build a relationship and best understand the support needs of those attending. We are able to offer reflective sessions both face-to-face, and online.
